Why Merrick Garland is under no obligation to respond to Jim Jordan's letter regarding the Trump classified documents investigation

Recently, Jim Jordan, who represent's Ohio's 4th District in the House of Representatives sent a ridiculous letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland "demanding" information on the current investigation of former President Donald J. Trump over the improper retention of classified documents. Jordan's letter is a ridiculous screed that is unbecoming an elected member of Congress, and Merrick Garland is under no obligation to share any of the information that Jordan requests in his letter. The reasons that Garland is under no obligation to honor Jordan's request include problems associated with the report issued by John J. Durham, on whose statements Jordan bases his requests, the quasi-judicial immunity of an Attorney General tasked with releasing information to a member of Congress who may be a subject of the investigation Congress is ostensibly examining, and limits upon the scope of the investigative powers of Congress.
The report issued by Special Prosecutor John J. Durham does not have the weight of established legal precedent. There are numerous problems with Durham's report, some of which I described in my article on The Cynicism of William Barr. The most notable fault with Durham's report is it appears to be primarily a propaanda tool intended to diminish the public image of Federal Investigative agencies. On that grounds, it's publication borders on an act of conspiracy to defraud the government. Durham's report is filled with speculation, projection and assertions without evidence. It is likely that Durham never intended for the report to lead to charges, becaues he realized that attempting to do so would mean the claims in the document would be subjected to judicial scrutiny, and most likely thrown out for failing to meet any evidentiary standard, the entire work exposed as an act of fraud.
